This position includes employee benefits.An employee's hourly rate shall not exceed the wages of current employees with the same years of experience in the District.The job of Education Assistant - Computer Lab is done for the purpose/s of maintaining operation of computer lab; complementing classroom instruction with software applications and computer technology; and assessing the effectiveness of instruction. This job reports to the Middle School Principal.General Requirements:Experience: Job related experience is required.Education: High School diploma or equivalent.Certificates: 48 college units, or an AA degree, or be able to demonstrate college level skills by passing the Para proficiency test.Clearances: Employment is contingent upon a Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance, paid for by the applicant.Essential Functions - ComputerAssesses malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer lab operations.Assists with the development of instructional materials for the purpose of providing a structured approach to learning about computers.Confers with teachers, parents and/or appropriate community agency personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluation of students' progress and/or implementing students' objectives.Coordinates scheduling of students, teachers and technical support personnel for the purpose of maintaining computer lab operations.Instructs students and teachers (e.g. software applications, Internet usage, research processes, etc.) for the purpose of complementing classroom instruction with various software applications and the use of computer technology.Maintains computer hardware and software applications (e.g. orders supplies, troubleshoot problems, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of instructional material.Monitors student activities for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning.Maintains instructional materials and/or student files/records (e.g. instructional materials, student files, checking papers, cum files, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. correcting papers, recording grades, copying, displays, bulletin boards, collects paper, distributes supplies, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher in preparing records/materials.Records observations and incidents relating to specific students for the purpose of providing documentation and/or communicating information to appropriate personnel.Responds to inquiries from staff (e.g. administrators, psychologists, teachers, etc.) for the purpose of providing information.Substitutes in classroom on a temporary basis for the purpose of meetings, emergencies, etc.Assists other personnel, as may be required, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.Substitutes for teachers and/or office staff as needed for the purpose of maintaining consistent student service and education in the absence of other staff members.Supervises the use of computer lab equipment for the purpose of student and staff use is in accordance with district policy.Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring anefficient and effective work environment such as lunch duty, recess, or crossing guard duties..Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesSKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
