This position does not include benefits.Hours:10:00 am - 1:00 pm, every day school is in session.An employee's hourly rate shall not exceed the wages of current employees with the same years of experience in the District.Experience: Job related experience is desired.Education: No specific education level is required.Certificates: Valid Driver's LicenseContinuing Educ./Training: As prescribed by District for NSLP, NSBP, HACCP, and sanitation guidelines.Clearances: Employment is contingent upon a Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.The job of Food Service Workers (Level I) is done for the purpose/s of preparing and distributing food items for consumption by students and school personnel and maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition and complying with mandated health requirements. This job reports to Director of Food Services.Essential FunctionsMain responsibility is to operate dish machine, power soak sink, keep dish room clean, monitor chemical use.Assignment focus will be dish room, sweeping, mopping and garbage duty.Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of setting up serving line and making meal service available to students and staff.Cleans kitchen, serving area, and dish room (e.g. utensils/dishes/pans, floors, cabinets, walls, equipment, serving counters, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions and meeting health and safety requirements.Monitors students in the lunchroom/cafeteria for the purpose of meeting health requirements and/or providing a safe and supportive environment.Operates basic cleaning equipment (e.g. dishwasher, garbage disposal) for the purpose of providing sanitary food service.Oversees student workers for the purpose of providing guidance and direction in the performance of their functions.Replenishes food items on the serving lines for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities for students and staff.Serves food for the purpose of meeting requests of student and school personnel.Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesSKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based on competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records; utilizing industrial grade food service equipment; and using pertinent software applications.KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods of quantity cooking; and food safe handling procedures.ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with others; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited.
