Description

Interstates is growing, and we are currently seeking an experienced Service Manager to join our Interstates Construction Team for our Aberdeen office. The Service Manager is responsible for the company client coordination required throughout the period of construction. This position will organize and control the preparations and execution of construction contracts to meet company objectives of cost, quality, equipment conservation and safety. This position will manage a set of varying quantity and size projects based on their developing skill level and department project workload.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and fully understands the project’s agreement/contract, specifications, clarification and exceptions, scope of work, budgets, and allowances prior to commencement.

  • Develops a plan as a team with assigned superintendent to build project in a controlled manner.

  • Attends pre-construction meetings as required with all involved parties and agencies.

  • Coordinates hand-off meetings with business development.

  • Chairs pre-job planning sessions and post-job review meetings for all projects.

  • Monitors project progress information and cost of labor, cost of material, and productivity for project control and analyze each week.

  • Analyzes and investigate new techniques for fabrication and installation of work and possibilities for value engineering and determine the most efficient and effective construction methods and procedures and assist field superintendent in ensuring implementation.

  • Provides field superintendent and operations manager with all required data and bid information (budgets/strategies) and back-up support to properly construct the project on time and within budget.

  • Responsible for recommendation and selection/buyout of all required materials, vendors, subs with purchase order/subcontract agreement and with emphasis on maintaining all buy-outs under budget. Furnish information for proper coding of invoices.

  • Reviews time sheets and see that they are coded correctly for project costing.

  • Reviews project billings. Provide information and/or support to accounting to complete timely and accurate billings.

  • Advises estimating department and other related departments of any discrepancies with bid/budgets and follow up with addressing the required solution.

  • Coordinates in-house project activities with Engineering/Drafting, Accounting, Estimating, and Control Systems.

  • Implements all departmental best practices and procedures developed

Education and/or Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university

· Or 2-5 years of related experience and/or training

· Or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training

Preferred Skills:

· Excellent communication skills and ability to deal tactfully with employee, owners and customers

· Ability to display and convey a positive image of self and the company to all individuals in daily duties

· Able to track and organized project and information

· Works cooperatively with others in a team environment

· Has an overall knowledge of safety policies and is able to enforce such policies

Travel: This position will consist of 25 percent travel.
