The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleThe person hired for this opportunity will provide quality engineering leadership and support to marketed Tegaderm products, identify and lead and drive Right First Time and complaint reductions projects, represent the customer, and use data to identify issue root causes and corrective actions. The Sr. Quality Engineer will partner and interact significantly with other cross functional team members. This position can provide a great opportunity to learn, grow, and develop as an employee.

As a Sr. Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Brookings plant quality engineer responsible for assuring quality of manufactured Tegaderm products manufactured for the Dressings and Securement Devices platform.

  • Leading and coordinating proactive Right First Time improvement tasks and projects.

  • Leading and coordinating proactive complaint reduction tasks and projects.

  • Leading the root cause investigation, corrections, documentation, and resolution of unplanned quality issues.

  • Team member on product and process change management requests.

  • Investigate and disposition nonconforming material (NCN’s).

  • Reviewing and approving production documentation.

  • Helping lead product usage of BART and vision systems to inspect and test product for quality.

  • Understanding physical and analytical test methods and drive statistically based testing of product.

  • Ensuring compliance to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and external regulations.

  • Participating in product customer quality (CQI) meetings, trend data, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Leading Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA and BPQN) and Material Review Boards (MRB’s).

  • Representing the customer and help to drive and foster a quality environment and mindset throughout the plant.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Two (2) combined years in product, quality, engineering, and/or laboratory/technical experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Statistics, Chemistry, Microbiology from an accredited institution

  • Four (4) combined years experience working in a product, quality, engineering, microbiology and/or laboratory environment experience in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Previous experience working in an FDA regulated device, combination, or drug environment

  • Strong demonstrated leadership ability and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and lead teams, drive change, and get things done

  • Previous experience leading QA efforts for marketed products and new product introduction teams

  • Previous manufacturing plant experience

  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, prioritize, and problem solve

  • Statistical knowledge and practice Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) studies, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Process Capability, Sampling Plans, Design of Experiments (DOE), Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Regression, Process and Product Understanding (PPU), and Lean Manufacturing

  • Test method development and validation experience

  • Minitab and Microsoft Office proficient

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
