Tyson Foods General Manager Transportation - Dakota Dunes, SD in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota

SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for the strategic and tactical efforts of the bulk commodity transportation team to ensure the plants have adequate coverage for their transportation needs, our customers receive timely deliveries, and the tank and hopper car fleets are fully optimized. This position will also be responsible to lead and supervise tactical aspects of both the Rail Operations and Bulk (Truck) Transportation teams. Responsibility will include the tactical equipment positioning for plants, accurate reporting for multiple fleets, the implementation of the strategic cost savings initiatives (demurrage/detention reduction, private car storage cost reduction, no bill switch scale charge reduction, and minimize fleet maintenance costs). This position will also be responsible for strategic aspects of bulk commodity trucking, like managing and growing the motor carrier base, developing better loading schedules, mitigating freight spend costs, streamlining processes and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: BS degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or other related field preferred or equivalent industry experience.

Experience: 3 plus years’ operational experience.

Computer Skills: Strong experience in Microsoft Office. Railroad programs and/or Trucking programs preferred.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Position communicates with multiple levels of management carriers and vendors.

Special Skills: Highly analytical position will multiple levels of data compilation required for decision making. Highly motivated to succeed Self-starter.

Supervisory: 4 plus management team members.

Travel: 1-2 domestic trips per year.
