Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in the Packaging department. Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted or news procedures are implemented. Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Also helps ensure that all production complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods, Inc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in assigned department. Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted or news procedures are implemented.
Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Also helps ensure that all production complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods, Inc.
Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility.
Assigns work tasks to department personnel.
Assists with pre-op inspections.
May be required to work with or around chemicals.
Assists with safety audits.
Does extraneous checks in required areas.
Helps maintain control records related to processing, including but not limited to production records, sanitation records and safety inspections
Maintains effective working relationship between members of department and other areas.
Continually monitors lines for quality product and notifies all appropriate personnel if discrepancy is found.
Follows all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures
Follows all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) “washing hands, etc.” throughout the day.
Follows all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines.
Follows SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and keeps records updated.
Follows USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) regulations and guidelines
Monitors processing equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards.
Reports and fills out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, sanitation, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance.
Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality or control cost of production or sanitation.
Maintains accurate downtime records and daily shift report of all equipment in assigned area.
Completes daily paperwork such as SAP (System Applications Product in Data Processing).
Assures that all paperwork is properly completed and signed off as verification.
Adheres to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
Adheres to all safety polices and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Ability to read, write and speak English.
Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Must have good communication skills.
Self-motivated and a willingness to learn.
Must have basic math skills.
Must be able to train new employees.
Must be able to work overtime and weekends. Also, willing to work an alternate shift.
Must have basic computer skills (excel, word, etc.)
Ability to analyze problems and find solutions.
Ability to obtain forklift operator license.
Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR training
