Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Trade Sales, the Business Development Leader, Heavy Commercial is responsible for assisting in developing and executing business growth plans for US Delta Faucet Company (USA) and Masco Canada’s multifunctional team.

The United States based incumbent will be the face of Delta Faucet Company to key commercial and institutional specifiers, mechanicals and institutions across the country with a focus on underdeveloped markets. The incumbent will actively involve themselves with key member industry organizations including but not limited to the Mechanical Contractors Association(s), Health Engineering Society (HES), and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (A.S.P.E).

For success in this position, a person must have an understanding of the complex sales cycle and product lines involved in commercial sales. In addition, the person must have an appreciation for maintaining open lines of communication across a broad array of functional areas as well as an understanding of how to create strategy and bring it to execution. As a business leader responsible for our US commercial business, this person will grow, develop, coach and direct a broader team including elements of growing the independent agency network.

Success in the role also requires productive relationships with several other functions:

  • Company Commercial & Regional sales managers along with select sales representative agencies

  • Masco Canada and other related business units regarding new strategies and business development opportunities

  • Company Product Management & Engineering personnel for product development for heavy commercial/industrial products

  • Company Marketing personnel regarding product strategy and resource allocation

  • Company Finance personnel regarding job quotes and budgets

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain and grow relationships with top specifiers in key markets. Work closely with these specifiers to develop Delta Faucet Company specifications for projects

  • Target new business by developing and maintaining relationships with mechanical contractors, healthcare and institutional segments and property management

  • Assist the sales and marketing teams in developing specification packages and tools for each segment and design build projects as required

  • Teach and participate in product knowledge seminars with end-users which include lunch & learn, contractor breakfasts, site demonstrations

  • Participation in local, regional and national trade shows as required

  • Organization and participation of local special event days focused on focus segments and influencers

  • Explore new product opportunities; providing input on current product offerings; It is also the responsibility of this individual to ensure that regular communication and strategic plans are made and shared with our independent agencies

  • Generate and maintain a database of key influencers ie. Customer profiles by segment



  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical background (advanced degree in business is an advantage)

Experience / Skills / Knowledge

  • 10 plus years of experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to comprehend technical concepts and be able to relay this knowledge to the customer or specifier

  • Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills in addition to the ability to read and understand a P&L income statement

  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers (both internal and external)

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with plumbers, architects, designers and specifying engineers

  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings

  • Strong leadership skills are critical

  • Negotiation skills

  • Advanced presentation skills required

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Excellent interpersonal and effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

  • Results oriented self-starter who consistently demonstrates high degree of initiative.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers

  • Maintain a professional appearance and manners
