ICF Consulting Group, Inc. Cyber Network Systems Security Engineer in Pierre, South Dakota

Our Public Sector Group is seeking a versatile Cyber Network Systems Security Engineer. The candidate will be assigned to remotely support our commercial small business clients across the US and US territories, helping them to assess their information security posture and remediate security issues. 10% travel to client sites.

ICF seeks someone who possess a strong background in desktop, server, network, or security administration and has an eagerness to learn new technology to expand their technical knowledge and skillset to better support our clients. The candidate will independently research and recommend sound technical solutions to security issues and guide onsite client staff with implementation.

The candidate will need to learn and develop an understanding of specific security risks of the business services, technologies, applications and systems common to these small office environments. The position requires the ability to examine and interpret industry security standards and requirements, and assist clients with their application.

The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory and Domain Services, firewall access control, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and common security controls and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment Support

  • Schedule and perform vulnerability scans of client networks

  • Review and follow up on critical issues identified by assessments

  • Assist with support, maintenance and enhancement of scanning infrastructure

  • Technical Support

  • Monitor, perform and coordinate responses for support request with team members

  • Research solutions, review vendor and product documentation

  • Develop technical guidance to address common assessment findings

  • Interpret, understand and implement security policies and controls

  • Assist with internal infrastructure support as skills permit

  • Utilize existing administrative skills and develop of new skills

  • Maintenance of Firewalls, Switches and Routers

  • Maintenance of VMware server with Windows and Linux virtual machines

  • Windows and Linux System Administration and troubleshooting

  • Monitor production environment performance, operations and backups

  • Special project support

  • Assigned to leverage existing or develop new skills as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related technical field

  • Ability to pass a government trust background check

  • Substitute four (4) additional years of experience for degree

  • 6 years combined experience in at least two areas below:

  • Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and application server administration

  • Microsoft 365 or Azure Cloud Services

  • Unix or Linux operating systems administration

  • Virtual servers administration: VMWare or Windows Hyper-V preferred

  • Network administration of routers, firewalls and switches

  • General Network and System security, Information Assurance, or Cyber Security

  • Implementation of security standard for FISMA or industry compliance requirements

  • Desktop support, helpdesk, hardware or software management

  • Application programming, preferably with PHP, SQL, Java, other OOP languages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft System Administration Certification(s)

  • Microsoft 365 or Azure Cloud Certification(s)

  • VMWare Certification(s)

  • Cisco Certification(s)

  • ISC2 or GIAC security certification

  • CompTia Network+, Security+

Professional Skills and Experience:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong customer support skills

  • Proficient with MS Office applications
