Guidehouse is continuing to expand its presence in Water Utility Consulting. The Director, Water Utility Consulting will leverage his/her relevant experience to continue the development of our growing Water Utility Consulting Practice area and provide leadership to project delivery and pursuit teams. The Director role is a highly visible and challenging position that draws heavily upon the analytical, creative, and interpersonal skills essential to effective strategy consulting. This role requires a keen ability to engage clients and lead project teams in effectively delivering projects of the highest quality. In addition, the Director identifies business opportunities for clients as new or follow-on work. The ability to assume complete ownership of significant projects while at the same time being a part of and leading a close-knit team is critical.
Specific responsibilities include:
Work closely with Guidehouse team members across the full Water Utility Consulting lifecycle – including Thought Leadership, offering development, new sales, account management, and finally project management.
Utilize your Track Record and contacts in broad areas of Water Utility Consulting to help expand our market presence and close new projects
Meet new business and earnings financial goals; proven record in account management and annual sales of at least $1.5m.
Develop client and pursuit strategies
Manage contracts and legal issues
Manage and mitigate project, account management, and other risks
Identify key client interests and drivers on projects and pursuits and communicate with team members
Lead proposal development and pursuit of business development opportunities
Develop strong relationships with clients, project teams, teaming partners and contractors
Leverage professional networking skills and a robust set of contacts across the industry to help identify and pursue project opportunities
Participate in internal Guidehouse initiatives aimed at improving the firm
Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical and Environmental Engineering or a related field
Advanced degree preferred (including an MBA or other business-focused discipline)
10+ years professional experience managing a multi-disciplinary team to deliver water and wastewater consulting projects
Broad knowledge of the water utility industry in areas such as water supply planning, water quality, asset management (including capital program management), water operations (including distribution maintenance), and rate design.
Additional experience in areas such as the energy/water nexus, hydropower generation, and perspectives on the forces of transformation driving change across the industry.
