Actively participate in the development and implementation of Aurora Plains Academy nursing role/function.iParticipate in unit clinical staff and multi-disciplinary meetings to provide nursing input in the evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning for individual residents.iProvide nursing consultation for staff throughout the program regarding resident nursing/medical care and needs.iCommunicate knowledgeably and professionally with parents and county workers regarding the medical/nursing care of residents.iDemonstrate in depth working knowledge of the use of psychotropic medication including possible benefits/side effects.iFunction as a team member in all interactions with residents and staff.iEstablish and maintain appropriate relationships with residents.iCommunicate in an effective manner (clearly, concisely, positive/tactful manner).iWork closely with the Department Director and other health care providers to ensure all orders for medical and psychiatric treatments are implemented and the appropriate records and processing are completed.iProvide for the health care needs of residents utilizing comprehensive physical assessment skills.iMaintain appropriate communication with the pharmacy providing services to Aurora Plains Academy.iAdminister medication and provide nursing treatment as prescribed.iPrepare and present medical/psychiatric staffing reports.iComplete intake nursing assessments on residents.iPrioritize responsibilities and complete assignments in a timely manner.iIdentify own learning needs and seek the information to improve knowledge/skills.iActively and willingly participates in the decision-making process.iObjectively obtains facts and information pertinent to decision-making.iMake decisions within the guidelines of job description.i
