Indian Health Service Physician (OB/GYN) in Rosebud, South Dakota
This position is located in the PHS Indian Hospital of the Rosebud Comprehensive Health Center, Rosebud Service Unit at Rosebud, SD. The purpose of this position is the provision of comprehensive clinical medical care (Educative, Preventive, Curative, Rehabilitative) in an inpatient/outpatient setting. The position functions as a Senior Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).
Provides patient care for Obstetrics/Gynecology patients including prevention, health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services to patient(s). Assumes responsibility for the diagnosis, care and treatment of patients within their physician specialty area. Assures preparation of appropriate medical records for all patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data to provide comprehensive medical care. Refers patients to appropriate medical or other facilities, provides full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures. Works closely with allied health professionals in the provision of broad health program services, interviews and examines patients, and instructs and counsels patients.

Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development and the ability to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific grouping of needs, i.e. infant, adolescent, or geriatric by examining and diagnosing health related conditions; educating individuals concerning their health conditions, recommending therapy and overall promotion and the prevention of disease. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
