POET IT Application Support Analyst in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

    In POET Information Technology (IT), we proactively deliver a high level of service to empower our business units to create more value for POET. We work closely as a team, in a fun, fast-paced, changing environment to plan, execute and support IT initiatives.     The IT Application Support Analyst is responsible for maintaining and developing POET’s key internal business applications. The primary purpose of the position is to support, troubleshoot, and where appropriate develop or enhance business applications and reports to provide POET team members with access to reliable, fit for purpose systems. The role is also responsible for promoting and expanding the use of applications within the business.


  • Receive and log requests for support; investigate and resolve application errors and data discrepancies.

  • Report, troubleshoot and escalate system faults to ensure a prompt resolution.

  • Take part in user meetings, assist in presenting issues and solutions both orally and in writing.

  • Monitor progress of requests for support and ensure users and other interested parties are kept informed.

  • Support implementation of system upgrades to ensure applications remain compliant and aligned to business requirements.

  • Work with the IT Business Analysts in identifying and proposing application system changes, better uses, enhancements and developments and liaising with appropriate vendors, users and the IT team.

  • Work effectively with System Administrators and Development to troubleshoot complex interdependencies between software applications.

  • Support other areas of IT in the implementation of new business applications and projects.

  • Available for off-hour emergency calls and consultations.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Completed Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Technology or Science preferred.

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of progressive analysis/systems experience in mid to large scale computing environment.

  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.

  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.

  • A good understanding of client/server, web architectures and object oriented technologies and internet applications.

  • Working knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies and Windows operating systems.

  • Organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.

  • Some travel, to include overnights, may be required for this position.

  • Specific physical requirements may include:

  • Sitting for approximately 90% of the time while working on a personal computer.

  • Occasionally lifting weights of fifty (50) pounds or less.
