JOB SUMMARY

Provides leadership and direction for the clinical and business operation of Radiation Therapy for Sanford. Provides consultation to physicians in the application of physics to externally delivered ionizing radiation or internally implanted radioactive sources. Possesses a thorough knowledge of medical and radiological physics, mathematics, radiation biology, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, computer science, and electronics.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in developing and monitoring a budget for specific work group or department. Motivates team members to take personal responsibility for group productivity. Establishes and maintains productive working relationships within and outside of own area. Works to establish an organizational culture that places a high level of value on patient safety. Communicates well downward, upward, and outward. Recommends radiation safety resolutions for various cases to others. Promotes and ensures patient satisfaction while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. Employs workflow standards to measure workflow performance. Coordinates work schedules and workloads for personnel.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Physics manager responsible for the management and oversight of radiation physics and dosimetry services and staff for the Sanford Cancer Center in Sioux Falls and Sanford Health Cancer Center in Worthington, MN. Equipment includes Varian TrueBeam STx, Accuray Tomotherapy HiArt, Siemens ONCOR, Varian HDR, XOFT IORT, ARIA record and verify, with Eclipse and Tomo TPS.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Physics, Medical Physics, Biophysics, or Radiological Physics, with specialized training in Radiation Therapy Physics is required.

Minimum of two years experience working in a radiation oncology department with responsibilities in radiation therapy physics including machine calibration and quality assurance, dosimetry, treatment planning, brachytherapy, and patient simulation.

Board certified by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics in Therapeutic Physics, Therapeutic Medical Physics, or Therapeutic Radiologic Physics is required. If working in North Dakota, registration with the North Dakota State Department of Health is required.
