DESCRIPTION Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT) has an immediate need for an energetic and dynamic Network Administrator in support of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center (http://eros.usgs.gov/) near Sioux Falls, SD (http://www.siouxfalls.org). The EROS Centerwide Information Technology Team (CITT) has an opening for a Network Administrator. This position is part of a dedicated team, responsible for support of EROS network environments. The Network Administrator s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. Roles of this position include planning, installing, configuring, maintaining network equipment related to the many aspects of the EROS network. This position will also analyze and resolve issues from the hundreds of supported users who utilize the networks at the EROS Center. Candidates must flexible, strong team players, with the ability to integrate into a highly-skilled team. Candidates must have strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the desire to grow. Education: Minimum of an AA in Computer Science; BS/BA preferred. Education may be substituted for experience at manager s discretion. Experience: Minimum of 2 - 6 years of directly-related technical, professional experience required. Required Skills: * Configure and perform diagnostics on network infrastructure components * Understand and troubleshoot the following network layers, technologies, and system protocols: TCP/IP, UDP/IP, SNMP, SSL, HTTP, FTP, SSH, Syslog, DHCP, DNS, RDP, NETBIOS, IP routing, Ethernet, switched Ethernet, 802.11x, NFS, and VLANs. * Understand and maintain network security appliances (firewalls, etc.) and the concepts and procedures for network security * Maintain and support wireless network access technologies, equipment, and tools. Experience with Aruba wireless products is a plus. * Ensure all systems and networks comply with USGS computer and network security requirements. * Ability to work well within a team, possessing a good team spirit, as well as demonstrated self-management and flexibility in taking on new challenges. * Ability to deal with a number of issues and deadlines concurrently, set priorities, seek help from team as needed * Understand and maintain network security appliances (firewalls, etc.) and the concepts and procedures for network security. Experience with Juniper and Fortigate firewalls is a plus. * Exceptional customer service skills.
