JOB SUMMARY

Perform preliminary screening examinations and/or tests to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment by the physician. Assist the physician with procedures and care of the patient. Collects subjective and objective ophthalmic data from the patient or caregiver and communicates this data to the provider. Must possess and maintain certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete medication reconciliation and ensure medication security. Assist provider in performing ophthalmic procedures, including surgery as needed. Maintain clean work environment. Maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment. Measure visual acuity using appropriate tests. Operate ophthalmic equipment as trained and qualified. Take and document patients' medical histories.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

We are looking for an individual with excellent customer service skills. Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant is preferred, but NOT required. Prefer individual with Eye Services experience, but NOT required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology and maintain continued COA certification. Basic Life Support Certification required. Must be a graduate of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program or equivalent experience.
