Minnehaha County Part-Time Safe Home Program Worker in SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota

SALARY: $14.85 - $15.85/Hour OPENING DATE: 9/6/19 CLOSING DATE: Continuous iGENERAL INFORMATION: The Minnehaha County Human Services department invites applications for part-time Safe Home Program Workers to provide program support for residents and staff. This is a part-time position with varied hours but primarily overnight (midnight to 8am), evening, weekend, and holiday hours to provide coverage in a 24/7 operation. This posting will remain open until filled and review of applications begins on September 20, 2019. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES INCLUDE:iiEXAMPLES OF DUTIES INCLUDE: Manage the front desk area of Safe Home by answering the telephone, identifying and admitting residents and guests, providing security, and checking residents, guests, and outside property for contraband. Assist guests, coordinate with outside vendors, and operate and monitor the facility's camera and video equipment. Identify emergency situations and call for assistance and/or emergency services as needed. Assist the cafeteria by ensuring meals are prepared timely and maintain dining room cleanliness, organization, inventory, and supplies. Complete cleaning duties as directed for both residential and public areas. Enforce compliance to rules and guidelines for residents to support their case management. Supervise and support residents in the performance of their building maintenance duties. Manage the identification process by making badges for residents and staff. Provide documentation on relevant incidents and resident issues as needed. Activate and deactivate the badges appropriately. Address building maintenance issues by contacting appropriate personnel for laundry machines, coffee pots, TVs, heating and cooling, elevators, etc. Resolve emergency issues and communicate repair and cleaning needs accordingly. iMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED plus general office, security work, or related education and experience. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience working successfully with difficult people and situations. Must be a minimum of age 21 at the time of hiring. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process. Ability to quickly and efficiently resolve issues while diffusing angry and intoxicated people. Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities. Ability to operate a computer with working knowledge of frequently used computer programs. Demonstrate team participation and embrace a work place philosophy that enriches staff's ability to reach goals, and provide a high level of customer service. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other agencies, and the public. Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary education. Experience working in a similar environment and working with chemically dependent and homeless individuals. iiiii
