JOB SUMMARY: The Patient Advocate is responsible to plan, organize, and implement financial counseling services to patients and families. Responsible to screen patients to determine potential for program assistance, complete application with patient and families, and follow up after discharge regarding application. Maintain knowledge base of community agencies and resource to facilitate appropriate referrals, including maintaining a thorough understanding of eligibility requirements and current laws governing government programs, including Medicaid, specifically South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor's Degree in finance, healthcare business, or social work preferred.
· Two years experience in healthcare and insurance verification preferred.
