POET Purchasing Specialist in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

JOB SUMMARY

As a Purchasing Specialist in this newly created position, you will be responsible for daily execution in purchasing for assigned locations for the POET Biorefineries and POET Design & Construction. You will place orders, track orders, work with vendors and on-site personnel to ensure great communication and timely delivery. The Purchasing Specialist’s role is to provide fantastic customer service to our POET Biorefining locations and ensure a top notch reputation with our vendors on execution.

A TYPICAL DAY COULD INCLUDE…

  • Receives and reviews requisition requests for completion and authorized approvals.

  • Prepares purchase orders, obtains quotes and carries out related administrative tasks.

  • Assists Buyers with vendors to negotiate pricing and obtain information related to price, specifications, delivery and sources of supply.

  • Processes and maintains purchasing records, such as costs, delivery, product quality or performance, inventory and usage.

  • Investigates discrepancies between purchase order, receiver and invoice. Communicates and works with vendor, company management and appropriate department personnel to resolve issues.

  • Provides backup support to other purchasing specialists or buyers to cover or assist in coverage, scheduling conflicts, etc.

  • Supports processes to maintain optimum inventory levels that serve the production process, and ensure on-time deliveries.

  • Prepares documentation for contracts, transactions, or regulatory compliance.

  • Supports the evaluation of contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.

  • Supports improvement projects to current processes or policies.

  • Partners with other procurement staff to ensure accurate and timely delivery with excellent customer service to our biorefineries and construction projects.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Degree in business or technical field and 1 year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Great interpersonal skills, possessing a high degree of professionalism and customer service.

  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, decision-making, and problem solving abilities.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.

  • Honest, ethical, and conscientious.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and changing environment.

  • Eager to learn and change the world.

  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Up to 30% travel required which may include vendor visits, continuing education, and conferences.

  • Team members will be required to adhere to safety requirements in all work environments. This position operates in an office environment. Specific physical requirements may include:

  • Working at a personal computer for approximately 90% of the time where you can sit or stand.

  • Occasionally lifting weights of fifty (50) pounds or less.
