SMG Security Dispatch in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Summary This part time position is responsible for signing employees as well as temporary staff into the building, securing doors, ensuring the safety of all guests, employees and contract labor while on premises; securing property during move in/out trade shows, conventions or events by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Secures property. Locks and unlocks facility doors. Conducts routine property walks. Inspects premises for signs of intrusion or tampering. Tour facility, examining doors, windows and gates to ensure they are secure. Signs employees and temporary staff into building. Interacts with the public and all levels of management and fellow employees. Secures the safety of all individuals on the premises. Works independently and judges and assesses situations for immediate response. Monitors security systems and cameras. Notifies appropriate members of management or emergency systems when necessary. Completes incident reports and logs as required. Respond immediately to emergency situations -- answer alarms and investigate disturbances. Keep record of all keys and equipment that is signed out. Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience High School diploma or G.E.D. 6 months to 1 year of security experience, preferably in a similar environment Skills and Abilities Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising judgment and initiative. Strong customer service skills Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required Ability to interact with all levels of staff including management Must have a valid driver's license Ability to work irregular hours including, night shifts, weekends and holidays Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic Good decision making and problem-solving skills. Will be subject to acceptable background check. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, the individual should have some computer knowledge, having basic knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office. Additional computer training will be provided for additional software platforms in use. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
