Summary This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. This position is the Physical Therapist located in the Physical Therapy Department at the Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center, Sisseton, SD. This position provides physical therapy services in accordance with sound professional PT principles so that basic and special needs of patients are met. This position reports to the Physical Therapy Supervisor. Responsibilities Provides physical therapy In the areas of physical disabilities, neuro-muscular and psychosocial dysfunction to patients ranging from the new born to the very elderly. Develops treatment plans based on general information in consult and taking into consideration patients physical and mental conditions, cooperation and various psychological factors. Evaluates and develops treatment plans for patients referred to the department by physicians, exercising independent professional judgment in planning and carrying out a treatment program to meet the patient's needs. Must be aware of potential hazards and problems inherent in any treatment program, so as to prevent occurrence of any harm to the patient. Reviews literature and prepare educational correspondence which may be utilized by the professional staff within the service unit. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education, Physical Therapy, GS-0633-11: I have completed a graduate or higher level degree that included: -A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained; and - Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Licensure, Physical Therapy, GS-0633-11: I have a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and I have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Physical Therapist, GS-0633-11: From the descriptions below, select the response that best describes your experience which demonstrates your ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-11. A. I have one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples Include: Planning and carrying out a full range of treatment where therapeutic objectives are complex and the procedures involved require the application of highly specialized skills and knowledge. B. I have completed three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. C. I have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-11 grade level. D. I do not have the education and/or experience as described in the above statements. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
