ResponsibilitiesPlans, directs, and supervises the daily operation of revenue cycle functions.Advises Billing Manager of problems and concerns in the department.Assists the Billing Manager in developing, implementing, and revising departmental policies and procedures.Works on special assigned projects, compiles data and prepares reports.Oversees the status of patient accounts and assists in identifying and resolving billing and processing problems.Supervises assigned personnel. Assists in training, orientation, and performance evaluation. Recommends merit increases, promotions, disciplinary actions.Suggests credit and collection policies and assists in their implementation. Supervises the collection of delinquent accounts.Performs coding and error resolutions requiring independent judgement.Analyzes billing processes and designs, recommends and implements methods for improvement.Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.Assists team leads with solving payment and billing problems. Prepares audits on problem accounts.Maintains confidentiality in regard to patients accounts status.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.Exercises supervision over assigned staff.Ability to process patients and insurance billing inquiries.Ability to identify trends and billing issues, solve problems, and correct errors.Ability to plan work flow and implement appropriate actions.Ensure employee compliance with Navigant policies and proceduresVerify and monitor attendance and time-off requestsQualificationsEDUCATIONHigh School Diploma or GEDCPC or CPB certification preferred with commitment to pursue within 12 monthsEXPERIENCEMinimum of three years medical office experience in billing, accounting or information systems and two years supervisory or management experience.Other RequirementsKnowledge of basic accounting and management principles.Knowledge of computer accounting programs, spreadsheets and applications.Knowledge of medical terminology, coding and office procedures.Knowledge of third-party and insurance procedures, regulations and billing requirements and government reimbursement programs.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, and client personnel.Mental/Physical RequirementsFrequently communicates with clients and coworkers and must be able to share information effectivelyStrong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skillsWork as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independentlyFlexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects in sometimes high-pressure situations simultaneouslyAble to travel via airplane with minimal assistance to client sites across the US and potentially internationallyUsually remains stationary for the majority of the dayRegularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
